UPDATE – June 2016: The official US release date for the IT remake is in place and has been set for September 8, 2017.
And Will Poulter will not be playing Pennywise as he’s left the project due to scheduling conflicts. Instead, Bill Skarsgård from Hemlock Grove will take on the task of Pennywise!
Jaeden Lieberher (St. Vincent) will play the leader of the Loser’s Club (played by Jonathan Brandis in the original mini-series) – that otherwise will be played by Finn Wolfhard (Supernatural), Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ant-Man).

This is the first we hear about the IT remake since Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) left the project due to creative differences, and Mama director Andy Muschietti stepped in as the new director.
Rumor has it that the filming will begin in Toronto, Canada from June 27 to September 6, 2016.
It’s still unclear who will star in the IT remake movies that will be split into two parts. When Cary Fukunaga was set to be the director, he surprisingly chose the young British actor Will Poulter to play Pennywise. The new director, Andy Muschietti, has recently stated in an interview that Poulter is still his first choice, so if his schedule works, he will be cast again. Poulter has responded that he’s flattered by the offer, but he’d like to meet with Andy Muschietti and read the script before he officially signs back on.
As opposed to the 1990 TV miniseries this IT remake, in the form of a feature film, will have more gore and horror, and will probably get an R-rating.
The first part is focusing on a group of outsider kids, known as The Losers Club, who come face to face with life problems, bullies, and a monster that takes the shape of a clown called Pennywise. The expected release is sometime in 2017.
We’ll probably be getting news on the casting very soon, so please check back here for more IT remake news.
