In 2013 David F. Sandberg blew up the internet with the short film Lights Out – now the motion picture version is here with a trailer and a poster.
James Wan is all over the Summer horror movies – in June he’s got The Conjuring 2, and in July it’s time for a possible new franchise with Lights Out which Wan produced.
The plot:
When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn’t real when the lights went out…and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged.
Theresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) and Maria Bello (Prisoners and Demonic) are headlining the movie.
With a cast and crew that is already known and loved in the horror genre, this summer release – along with a PR campaign that seems to be really kicking off now – Lights Out could easily be the next James Wan franchise.
Lights Out premieres July 22, 2016.
