HELL HOLE (2024) is a new Adams Creature Feature enjoying its world premiering at Fantasia 2024. The movie will also be coming to Shudder as their previous movies.

I have long been a fan of the movies from the Adams family, so I always recommend checking out what they make. This is my least favorite of theirs, but it’s still worth your time and offers some interesting twists and turns.

Supernatural and parasitic

In this latest movie from the Adams, we’re in the rural and desolate Serbian wilderness. This is where a U.S.-led fracking crew is working and constantly meeting obstacles.

First, it’s flooding due to rain. Then they uncover a dormant monster gestating inside a centuries-old French soldier. Yes, you can read that again and let it marinate a little. It’s a pretty stellar premise.

Also, the opening scene takes place centuries earlier.

Now the parasitic monster has been awakened and is exposed while in its most fragile state. This means it will stop at nothing to complete its mission and it tears through the men in search of a new womb.

Yes, a womb… in the men. It’s deliciously creepy and I enjoyed the special effects for the parasite monster.

Beloved Fantasia favorite filmmakers

As someone who really enjoys movies from the Adams family, I expected a lot from Hell Hole. They are Fantasia favorites and always deliver something memorable.

This is no exception.

However, I did find it weaker than their previous movies. Especially Hellbender and Where the Devil Roams. The latter has stuck with me since I first watched it and I am still very impressed by it.

For Hell Hole, the story felt weaker due to the many characters. Often, the strength of movies from the Adams family comes from a smaller and tighter core cast and a stronger story.

Hell Hole enjoyed its World Premiere at Fantasia 2024 which is exactly as it should be. Movies by the Adams family have become an integrated part of Fantasia in the best way possible.

For this latest movie, the Adams family crew consisted of Toby Poser (who also stars) along with John & Lulu Adams. Zelda Adams is usually also part of their crew, but she’s away attending college.

I’m sure the quartet will be reunited again for future projects. I certainly hope so, because they have created some true gems. The kind that sticks with you.

The inspiration for this movie apparently came from a family road trip through Alberta. They passed through lonely oil mining fields, conjuring fantasies of secrets deep in the earth. See, even this origin story is awesome!
