Who Killed Little Gregory? is a new Netflix documentary series. Once again, we’re in the true crime department and this is definitely one of the strongest Netflix documentaries.

The case in question is from 1984 when the young Gregory is found murdered. He was only 4 years old and the parts leading up to the murder and what happens immediately after are breathtaking. Each episode ends on a cliffhanger, so you will probably be hooked from the beginning.

Who Killed Little Gregory? (2019) Netflix Review

Storytelling done right

What I really enjoyed about Who Killed Little Gregory? was the fact that the storytelling is so incredibly well executed. We follow the story chronologically which makes it feel like you’re almost watching this real-time. This in itself is quite impressing since the case is from 1984 and not at all a recent event.

When the Netflix series opens, we do get a bit of back story, but that’s merely to let us know that this family has already been through a lot. From the murder of Gregory happens, the story consistently moves forward and I really appreciate that. In fact, that’s what I liked about The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann as well.

As things evolve, it would probably all feel too sensational if we didn’t get to see how the story actually unfolded. I really don’t want to give away too much about how this story unfolds. You will no doubt form your own opinion about who you think is guilty. However, be ready to have that change a few times before the series is over.

Watch Who Killed Little Gregory? on Netflix now!

This new limited Netflix documentary series consists of 5 episodes that each have a runtime around an hour. As such, it is much shorter than a season of Making a Murderer and you will be able to binge-watch this French true crime documentary in no time.

Who Killed Little Gregory? was directed by Gilles Marchand. The series was produced by Élodie Polo Ackermann along with Anna Kwak-Sialelli, Charlotte Toledano Detaille and Jean-Paul Geronimi.

If you like true crime documentaries such as The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann then Who Killed Little Gregory? is definitely something for you. The five episodes are intense and the story evolves in fascinating ways. This does almost feel like a Hollywood drama. And yes, that does make it all the more crazy and fascinating.

Who Killed Little Gregory? is out on Netflix in most countries from November 20, 2019.

Plot

When their 4-year-old son is murdered, a young couple fights a twisting and arduous battle trying to identify a frustratingly elusive killer.

I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
