WORST EX EVER on Netflix is a new true crime docuseries by the people who gave us Worst Roommate Ever. There are four episodes in season 1, but more are bound to come. Read our full Worst Ex Ever series review here!

WORST EX EVER is a new Netflix documentary series from the creators of the true-crime hit series Worst Roommate Ever. That series has already gotten a second season and surely this one, focusing on exes instead of roommates, will get more seasons too.

NEW RELEASE DATE FOR WORST EX EVER

This new Netflix series was supposed to come out on August 14, but was moved to August 28.

Instead, American Murder: Lacy Peterson was released on August 14, which is why Netflix bumped the new take on the “Worst”-docuseries format.

There are just four 60-minute episodes in this first season. However, if it’s as successful as the true crime series about roommates, I expect many more are in the making.

From bad roommates to exes

Sure, having a bad roommate is terrible and can have financial consequences if you decide to remove yourself from the situation. In fact, as seen in previous episodes of the Worst Roommate Ever series, it can even cost you your life.

However, the struggle of these Worst Ex Ever cases tends to be that things escalate after the victim removes themselves from the terrible situation.

Hence the title of “ex” and not “worst boyfriend/girlfriend ever” or “worst spouse ever”.

This new series focuses on people who discover that their partner wasn’t who they believed they were. Or they certainly changed personalities drastically once the relationship ended.

Worst Ex Ever – Review | Netflix True Crime Docuseries

Four very different stories about exes

The four cases in this first season are all about betrayal, violence, and deceit. We get the stories via testimonials, bodycam footage, and animated reenactments. Much like we know it from Worst Roommate Ever as this is built directly on the same format.

The four episodes in this true crime Netflix docuseries are:

  • “Dating the Devil” is episode 1
  • “Betrayed by the Badge” is episode 2
  • “Killing for Custody” is episode 3
  • “Married to a Monster” is episode 4

When you’ve watched episode 1 about the dangerous Ben Foster, you’ll be reminded of just how scary and dangerous this world can be.

Overall, some episodes might hit closer to home than others. Get ready for some wild stories with dramatic conclusions. Maybe even inspiration to act on a situation in your own life.

Watch Worst Ex Ever on Netflix now

As already mentioned, this new Netflix docuseries comes from the creators of Worst Roommate Ever. It was produced as a spin-off series by Blumhouse Television. All four episodes of the new series are on Netflix to watch.

This series will undoubtedly touch a nerve with many viewers. Especially those who have been in, are currently in or know people in similar situations.

While the true crime stories in these episodes are extreme, they are hardly unheard of.

Far too many murders and stalking cases have similar “playbooks”, which is why more resources are finally being allocated to deal with the escalation that happens when couples break up.

Maybe it can even help someone realize what actions to take to be safe – or just safer?!

Worst Ex Ever is streaming on Netflix from August 28, 2024.

Plot

From chilling betrayals to murder plots, this true-crime docuseries dissects the dark side of love through eyewitness testimonies.

I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
